HOUSE AT SHELTER BAY
LaConner, Washington

The dramatic waterfront perch of this residence called to mind lighthouses or weather stations, which inspired the design. The entire foundation of the two thousand square foot structure is grouted solid into the rock outcrop. The floor plan was carefully fitted to a very constricted area. The two bedroom house serves a couple with grown children and was lovingly constructed by a builder with a background of boatbuilding. Anchoring the floor plan is a massive masonry Russian fireplace. Materials include cedar shingles, cedar siding, peeled logs, metal roofing and a brick chimney.
